I’ll bet that you are wondering what the World Summit is,
Well, for me to explain this in more detail, first I want to take you back a few years to where it all began and the day I met someone who has been a very valuable part of my life and a great influence for the past 8 years.
It all began back in November 2010, I was asked by a friend if I could do someone a favour, this someone was Sarah, a friend of hers called Tonny Kregel needed a lift to her house.
Tonny had just had a major operation to repair a hernia that had gone wrong. I was asked if I could pick up this guy I did not know from Walsall and transport him to Kidderminster, I lived in Dudley at the time, and being the person I am I said yes immediately.
About 2 hours later I find myself in a “rough” area of Walsall, not knowing where I am going, all I have is an address and a name. I find the address and knock on the door.
The door opens and there stands this guy.
First impressions are whoa he looks like a nutter, what have I let myself in for.
Tonny stood there, shorts and a teeshirt (bear in mind it was November) and a little rucksack over his shoulder.
I asked him where his luggage was and he proudly told me it was in his rucksack, he travelled light.
The journey from Walsall to Kidderminster was long. Tonny was in a lot of pain, traffic was heavy, it was a dark and dreary night. Tonny was also a bad passenger, which did not help.
Already on edge picking up someone I did not know, and with me not really being a social person (I liked keeping myself to myself), you can imagine my defenses were up.
Being on edge, trying to make polite conversation, trying to drive differently to what I used to and really just wanting to be out of the situation I had put myself in, the last thing I wanted to hear was some “farcical” story about how this guy would one day change the world that we live in and make it a better place for future generations.
If I am honest at this point I just ignored what was being said, like we all ignore things in everyday life which is about change.
So I just nodded at the right times so I looked like I was listening.
I dropped Tonny in his new abode in Kidderminster, made my excuses and left for home, do not ask me why but all the stuff that Tonny had been talking to me about in the car sort of started to make sense, yes the world is a really bad place, governed by money, no one helped anyone else anymore unless it was for monetary gain.
But how could one man change the future and make this a better place for our future generations?
I was intrigued to find out more about Tonny so when I was invited over to dinner as a thank you for getting Tonny from Walsall to Kidderminster I jumped at the chance to speak to this weird but intriguing guy in more depth…
And so, this is where the story starts.
Picture this, I was sat at a table with a guy I did not really know and my best friend Sarah.
Tonny was talking about how he would one day change the world, everyone would live in peace and how he would unite all groups from around the world who had likewise thoughts under one roof and create a World Summit which would change the world as we know it, making it a safer place for our future generations.
We would all be equals! Money would not dictate stature as it does today, because money would be worthless.
He saw a society where we would all work together, using the skills given to us, all hospital treatments would be free of charge, if a doctor treated you for an illness, when you were better you would use one of your skills to help him.
A society where there was no poverty, everyone had a roof over their head, no bills to pay, everyone equal living in harmony.
Well being a blinkered person you can imagine my thoughts, I still thought this guy was a nutter and one day the guys with the white coats would be around to take him away.
But, in the back of my mind, there was this little glimmer, something stirring, something about this guy was not nutterish, he was making some kind of sense.
Not being deterred I visited Tonny often to try to get a better understanding of where he was coming from and how this would work, talking at length.
Bearing in mind I am not a sociable person but talking with Tonny was easy.
I gave him my opinions on what he was saying and hopefully, I helped him focus on the reality of what he was proposing.
I have watched this man grow over the last 8 years.
Yes, it took me a while but I started seeing what Tonny was showing, he never once forced his opinion onto me, just laid down the facts and let me, like everyone else now involved, to think for ourselves and make up our own minds.
The man with the mission shows no sign of slowing down
2 years ago he had 4 other people from around the World starting to listen and agree with the way forward Tonny was proposing. They worked hard and suddenly more and more people were joining and listening, getting involved, right before my eyes.
Tonny was called upon to make broadcasts on Radio around the World and last year he held his first Mini Summit in Holland, which was a great success.
Following the success of this Summit, Tonny made the ultimate sacrifice, he left his home and family in the UK and flew out to Mexico, where he was able to meet up with other believers of his vision and has now set up home there.
Bear in mind Tonny left the UK with no money apart from the few pounds he had by selling a few personal possessions and a few pounds donated to him by friends.
The World Summit is nearly upon us and I would urge you all to read more about what this is all about on their website www.worldsummit.global.
The World Summit is gathering changemakers from all over the globe in order to unite people, both virtually and physically, to bypass individual agendas as well as the current social, political, and economic systems that divide us.
There are about 1 million followers now associated with this.
And it all started with that nutter I first met 8 years ago.
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
I want to add here that Tonny has been a brilliant friend to me personally, he took me in when I was homeless, looked after me when I was at my lowest and was about to end my life and I am so grateful to have this guy as my friend.
I have spoken enough now, if you are interested in this can I ask you to go to their website and make up your own mind.
